Kia ora & hello! We are Lynnemaree and Dougy, your hosts at Ocean Dreaming Waipu. Together, we’ve created a Bali-like beachside home designed and crafted to give you a peaceful escape amid Northland’s natural beauty. Our place offers sweeping ocean views, boho-chic decor, and all the essentials to make you feel at home, whether you are here for a family getaway, a romantic visit, or some quiet time by the sea. We look forward to welcoming you to Ocean Dreaming Waipu—your perfect coastal hideaway.

Our unique space offers the opportunity to relax and step away from your busy lives, reminiscent of those beach holidays of yester year, where you leave the city trappings behind and curl up on the couch reading that book you never got to, or simply delight in our small slice of Kiwi paradise.

Welcome to Shemaya Serai

We have two self contained living spaces for you to enjoy on our expansive 3-acre property.

Shemaya Serai has a main living area with spacious open plan living, dining and fully equipped kitchen. A large deck leads into an open plan bedroom, with an office/yoga space, private bathroom, spa and outdoor shower area.

Enjoy our outdoor dining areas, perfect for those late morning brunches, al fresco dinners and simply to take in the views.

Say Hello to The Happy Hut

The other space, “Happy Hut” is a cozy, self-contained dwelling perfect for an additional couple, teenagers, or children. With its own queen bed, a small studio area with a comfy couch, a fully equipped kitchenette, which can also be set up as a separate bedroom with a single bed, and there is also a self-contained toilet and shower. This was our first home on the land and it truly was a ‘hut’, now, we think of it as our little jewel on the land but the name had to stay!

Ocean Adventure Calling

Learn to surf, or fish off the rocks at Waipu Cove Beach, just a 2-minute drive away. Immerse in Nature, walk the Tanekaha track amid magnificent native bush, wander the Waipu coastal walkway, head off to the Waipu glow worm caves, or the Piroa waterfall. Hang out on the beach awaiting the passing dolphin pods or take yourself off to the famous Waipu cove café, award-winning McLeod’s pizza barn, boutique markets, with Mangawhai (and Bunnings just over the hill!
